When the local Make a Wish Chapter asked Andy Stangi what he wanted for his wish he immediately told them he wanted to meet Brett Favre! Andy’s parents Jeremiah and Marie tried to keep the meeting a secret until the last minute. The Carnes-Stangi family members flew into Gulfport, Mississippi and enjoyed the warm weather and beautiful beaches on Friday. Saturday morning they were picked up by a limousine and taken to the University of Southern Mississippi vs. Memphis game. After tailgating for awhile a representative from the USM Athletic Department picked Andy and his mom up by golf cart and took them to lunch with the USM Cheerleaders and football team were they were presented with a team signed football and a gift bag of team logoed items. They were also special guest in the USM Eagle Walk parade that ended at MM Roberts Stadium.
“I am sure Andy had it put all together by the time we gave him the autographed #4 jersey and told him he had to wear it to get in to the sidelines at the stadium.” stated Susan Walker with the Favre 4 Hope Foundation. “His expression was priceless when he saw the jersey!” Andy and his family walked into the field house and had photos taken in front of Brett’s display then turned around to see Brett, Deanna and their family walk in. Andy and his family spent time with the Favres before the game then stayed to enjoy seeing Brett’s alma mater trounce Memphis 44-7.
